Skills Accreditation Programme

The Skills Accreditation Programme at SCQF Level 1 aims to be accessible to the needs of learners from a very broad range of services/settings. For example, Day Centres supporting additional needs and disabilities, Supported Living, Residential settings (to include young people transitioning to adulthood and adults with a range of support needs) and senior phase students.

The objective is to support learners in developing skills useful in their daily life and provide an accredited qualification to support learners with specific interests.

The award consists of a minimum of 2 units and learners may find it helpful to select one unit of interest (Arts and Crafts for example) and combine this with a more generic unit (Health and Safety or Communication). Learners may choose more than 2 units.

The award will be assessed by In-house Assessors, based in the service the learner attends/lives. Assessors complete an Introduction to Assessment module certificated by Borders College before commencing their Assessor role.

The Assessor must also be qualified to a level above which they are assessing and have completed the Borders College Malpractice unit.
