This course introduces learners to hospitality and explores the scope of the industry, the career paths and job roles within it, and the employability skills that underpin them. Students will study units that contribute to a National Progression Award in Hospitality, covering Barista Skills, Developing Customer Care in Hospitality and Working in the Hospitality Industry. The SCQF Level 5 course in Hospitality is suitable for a wide range of candidates including those who have recently left school and adult learners returning to education.

Entry requirements

Learners would benefit from having attained the skills, knowledge and understanding from relevant qualifications in Hospitality at SCQF Level 4 or progressing from a college course in the same area.

Progression opportunities

On successful completion of the course, students may progress to some of the pathways outlined below. Further or Higher Education Opportunities NC in Hospitality at SCQF 5 at Borders College NC in Hospitality at SCQF 6 at Borders College Employment opportunities in this vocational area that are applicable to the units undertaken in this course allow the learner to build the skills to gain opportunities as front of house staff and explore other career pathways in this sector.

Application and Interview Process

Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team and candidates will be invited to interview to follow up on the information contained within to confirm suitability. A full, detailed personal statement is important at this stage. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to ask further questions about the course and college support services at the interviews.
