Having recently completed her SVQ Level 3 in Social Services Children and Young People studies with Borders College, student Katie Watson said:

“I have gained so much experience with children while doing the course, and I have learned so much information to put into practice through college sessions and by speaking with my assessor and colleagues.

“My Tutor/Assessor, Fiona Aitchison, helped and supported me throughout the whole course. I am very grateful I was given this opportunity, and I would 100% recommend it to anyone who is looking for a career in childcare.”

Fiona Aitchison commented:

Over the 11 months that I worked with Katie, she demonstrated a remarkable growth in confidence. It was a real pleasure to be part of her journey and to observe her becoming a confident and effective practitioner and having such a positive impact on the children in her setting.

“Katie was an integral part of her team and was always willing to jump in and participate in any task that was asked of her. She loved to learn and get involved, gaining first-hand experience and knowledge from her colleagues.

“Katie has shown perseverance and hard work throughout and managed to overcome some personal challenges. I am very confident in Katie’s ability and look forward to hearing about what’s next in her exciting childcare career.”
