Future Proof Your Business with Graduate Apprenticeships

Graduate Apprenticeships

Looking to unlock the potential of your workforce? Upskill, reskill and recruit the Graduate Apprenticeships.

Businesses and their employees can benefit from the fully-funded Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship programme from Borders College, in partnership with Heriot-Watt University.

Graduate Apprenticeships (GAs) are a ground-breaking initiative, creating degree-qualified employees with key skills tailored to the needs of business and are aimed at anyone over the age of 16 who lives and works in Scotland.

GAs enable employers to upskill their workforce, both new or existing employees, to meet the growing demands of business, allowing them to gain new qualifications whilst remaining in paid employment. They have been created to address skills needs in a wide range of growth sectors in the Scottish economy.

The first two years of the course are delivered by the College at the Scottish Borders Campus in Galashiels, with the subsequent two years at Heriot-Watt’s Edinburgh campus.

Benefits of a Graduate Apprenticeship

A Graduate Apprenticeship allows you to learn on the job and helps you build the skills and knowledge that Scottish industries need. You'll work, get paid, and achieve a degree – even up to masters level.

You'll gain your qualification with the respected Borders College and Heriot-Watt University institutions and you’ll put your learning into practice right away, solving problems on real-world projects.

You’ll also have access to resources and ongoing support throughout your studies from Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt, as well as Borders College.

Benefits to Businesses

Research has shown that GAs are proven to deliver tangible business benefits, including increased productivity, talent development and retention, improved service delivery and staff engagement.

They are a great way to attract new talent to a company or to upskill and reskill existing employees and all degree programmes are fully funded, meaning there are no additional costs to the employer or the employee.

The programmes are designed by industry and employers to develop skills tailored to the needs of business and a work-based learning approach ensures practical application in the business environment.

From 2021, all Graduate Apprentices must apply directly to SAAS for funding. For more information on how to apply, click here.
