Ready for Life
This award aims to be accessible to the needs of learners from a very broad range of services/settings. For example, day centres supporting additional needs and disabilities, supported living, residential settings (to include young people transitioning to adulthood and adults with a range of support needs) and senior phase students.
The objective is to support learners in developing skills useful in their daily life. Mandatory units have been identified as core units and Learners are able to choose an additional 2 units, linked to their individual needs and interests. Optional units are currently under development, however there are a range of units from the Tenancy Award that are already developed, which will also form option units.
The award will be assessed by In-house Assessors, based in the service the learner attends/lives. Assessors complete an Introduction to Assessment module certificated by Borders College before commencing their Assessor role.
