Borders Tech Connect

Borders Tech Connect is a new community of students, businesses, and technologists working together to build digital skills and tools for the Scottish Borders.

We host regular meetups and collaborative workshops that help local businesses automate, innovate, and grow — with hands-on support from students, educators, and industry experts.

Backed by Borders College, Techscaler, and South of Scotland Enterprise.

Borders Tech Connect

The Foundations of Borders Tech Connect

Borders Tech Connect isn’t just a name — it’s a growing network that brings together students, businesses, educators and tech facilitators across the Scottish Borders. At its core, it’s about collaboration. Local collaboration. Practical collaboration.

Behind this initiative are three organisations that believe that access to digital skills and tools can transform what’s possible for learners, employers, and communities. We asked each of our founding partners to share what this project means to them and why they’ve chosen to support the Tech Connect system.

We want to:-

Emphasise local self-reliance and cooperation - local businesses, students, and enthusiasts pooling skills, resources, and knowledge to grow our own digital ecosystems.

Empower people over platforms - the real power of technology is in the human network — creators, students, entrepreneurs.

Create collaborative workshops - make togetherness the highlight.

Create digital independence - teach people to create and host their own software, implement open-source analytics, or adopt vendor-agnostic no-code solutions.

Develop local talent and ownership - when we collaborate on a project, the intellectual property or process improvements stay within the region.
